Do's & Don'ts
The guidance to hold to throughout your Ruqyah treatment.
The Do's
- Stay in a constant state of wudu as much as possible throughout the day.
- Sleep fully clothed in modest, tight-fitting clothing.
- Look down or fix your gaze during facial/mouth trembling; keep reciting internally in your heart if your tongue locks up.
- Force yourself to socialize and smile with family and spend time with your spouse.
- Purify the home — remove images, statues and music, keep no dogs indoors, and play Al-Baqarah every third day so the house stops attracting jinn and expels any jinn.
- Say “Masha'Allah, la quwwata illa billah” when you admire anything, and avoid displaying your blessings.
- Hide your blessings — keep plans, provision and good news private, and seek help in fulfilling needs through discretion.
The Don'ts
- Don't look into mirrors for long periods, especially while undressed or at night.
- Don't sit alone in dark rooms or linger in the bathroom after finishing your needs.
- Don't allow images of living beings or musical instruments exposed in your bedroom — they keep angels from entering.
- Don't panic when the pain moves or changes (e.g. legs to chest). It is a sign of the jinn's desperation and displacement, not its victory.
- Don't give up on a remedy if it causes immediate discomfort or nausea — that reaction proves the remedy is burning the affliction.
